Review Introduction
We first saw the Cobra DualPro 360 when we had visited Cobra’s parent company at their Chicago office. We visited them to hear about and discuss their up-and-coming products at the time, the Cobra Dual Pro 360 and the Cobra Road Scout. The Cobra team also laid out their strategy for 2019.
At the time we felt the challenge for Cobra was going to be overcoming image of the Cobra brand among the radar detector enthusiast community, whose perception is that Cobra radar detectors are not top-tier. Historically, that may have been the case, but no longer and it’s certainly not the case with these two new Cobra detectors. Indeed, we had noted that Cobra did start producing an upscale detector, their first DSP model, the Cobra DSP-9200BT, some three years ago and that it did offer good performance.

Does the new Uniden R7 measure up to the challenge?
The new Uniden R7 has the ability to detect MultaRadar photo enforcement speed cameras when enabled in the configuration menu. We’ve tested a number of different radar detectors with these very hard to detect forms of K-band radar with varying degrees of success.
So, when we received one of a handful or pre-release Uniden R7s, we were interested to see how well the Uniden R7 actually did when faced with one of these systems. We selected one particular location that is especially challenging on radar detectors that are claimed to detect MRCT & MRCD because not only are there two systems (each facing different directions) but they are straddled by two K-band speed signs.

The Uniden R7 radar detector is Uniden’s answer to the Valentine One and Escort Max 360 and will soon be available to those looking for a sensitive gps-enabled dual antenna high performance radar detector with arrows. Unlike the Uniden R3 and Uniden DFR9 radar detectors, at least for the moment, the GPS-enabled Uniden R7 will not be available in a non-gps variant.

Radar detectors continue facing more difficult challenges on the road in 2019. The best radar detector used to be considered to be one that was the most sensitive and alerted to police radar from the farthest distance but this hasn’t been the case for some time now. The best radar detectors today offer plenty of radar detection and alerting range and selecting one solely on the basis of range and sensitivity to police radar is not something that I would recommend as there are other aspects of performance that matter equally much of which will be mentioned below.

Unless you have been living on Mars and haven’t had an Internet connection back to Earth you already know the Uniden has taken the radar detector industry by storm last year with the release of their top of the line models, the Uniden R3 and Uniden R1. Both of these radar detectors have shaken up the industry in a big way and Uniden, all by themselves, have redefined what we all thought was achievable in radar detection performance and filtering.

Introduction
Radar detectors have been around a long time, nearly 40 years, and for much of that time the best radar detector was considered to be one that was the most sensitive and alerted to police radar from the farthest distance. A lot has changed in both the best radar detectors and traffic enforcement industries and today as we approach Christmas of 2018, the RF landscape continues to deteriorate, becoming even more challenging for a radar detector to function well. Now more than ever, the best radar detectors have to successfully balance two opposing dynamics: filtering (signal rejection) and sensitivity.
