Uniden R4 Review Introduction
Back in September of 2021, the owner of RadarBusters and I recently went on a 16,000 mile road-trip throughout large parts of the United States to the Eastern provinces of Canada. Victoria and I had been recently vaccinated so when the prime minister of Canada re-opened its borders to vaccinated citizens with proof of a negative COVID test, we jumped at the opportunity to visit. I’ve been to Canada a good number of times, but for Victoria, this was her first trip there. The provinces we visited included Ontario, Quebec, New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island, Nova Scotia, and ultimately Newfoundland.

Introduction to the Uniden R7 Review
In the Spring of 2017, Uniden took the radar detector industry by storm with the introduction of two class-leading radar detectors, the Uniden R3 and the Uniden R1. These two radar detectors quickly established themselves as performance leaders and became big sellers, particularly the Uniden R3.
How the New Uniden R7 Handles MultaRadar MRCD & MRCT Speed Cameras

Uniden R7 versus MultaRadar MRCT/MRCT Photo Enforcement Speed Cameras
Does the new Uniden R7 measure up to the challenge?
The new Uniden R7 has the ability to detect MultaRadar photo enforcement speed cameras when enabled in the configuration menu. We’ve tested a number of different radar detectors with these very hard to detect forms of K-band radar with varying degrees of success.
So, when we received one of a handful or pre-release Uniden R7s, we were interested to see how well the Uniden R7 actually did when faced with one of these systems. We selected one particular location that is especially challenging on radar detectors that are claimed to detect MRCT & MRCD because not only are there two systems (each facing different directions) but they are straddled by two K-band speed signs.

Uniden R7 Radar Detector is Uniden’s answer to the Escort Max 360 & Valentine 1
The Uniden R7 radar detector is Uniden’s answer to the Valentine One and Escort Max 360 and will soon be available to those looking for a sensitive gps-enabled dual antenna high performance radar detector with arrows. Unlike the Uniden R3 and Uniden DFR9 radar detectors, at least for the moment, the GPS-enabled Uniden R7 will not be available in a non-gps variant.

Unless you have been living on Mars and haven’t had an Internet connection back to Earth you already know the Uniden has taken the radar detector industry by storm last year with the release of their top of the line models, the Uniden R3 and Uniden R1. Both of these radar detectors have shaken up the industry in a big way and Uniden, all by themselves, have redefined what we all thought was achievable in radar detection performance and filtering.

Introduction to the Uniden R1/R3 Review
After putting some serious seat time behind the wheel with the new Uniden R1 and Uniden R3 radar detectors, it didn’t take long for me to realize how spectacular these two detectors are.
It also dawned on me, that I have been wrong all of these years. Who likes admitting to being wrong? Well in this case, I do. Why you ask? Simple. It’s because ever since the introduction of the Escort M3 platform of radar detectors–beginning with the Beltronics STi Driver, followed up with the Beltronics STi-R, Escort Passport 9500ci, and then the Escort Redline–I believed we had essentially reached the limits of radar detection sensitivity. In other words, I believed if none of the aforementioned detectors alerted to police radar, then a radar signal wasn’t actually there to detect. I believed Escort had summited the tallest mountain above sea level there is–Mount Everest.

Uniden vs 34.7 Ka-band
Brief Introduction
I’ve been driving with both the Uniden R3 & Uniden R1 radar detectors in preparation for my formal review and have some very telling police radar encounters. Particularly noteworthy was several encounters with a couple of Pennsylvania state troopers who ran very low-powered K-band radar at night.
What makes the R3 & R1 especially good in these scenarios:
- Both the R3 & R1 deliver extreme sensitivity (best we have ever experienced)
- Quick to detect instant-on police radar
- Quick to alert to instant-on police radar with minimal processing overhead
- Very good signal ramp up and decay with excellent latch times
- Very quick radar band signal differentiation
- Very good filtering algorithms ensure most alerts are to genuine police radar
These real-world experiences were very telling of the incredible performance that both the R1 & R3 offer, so much so, that I felt it was appropriate to feature them in a new video tutorial highlighting the true value in driving with an ultra-high performance radar detector and how to properly use one when confronted with some very difficult to detect radar encounters.

Introduction to the Uniden R3 & R1 Radar Detectors
For those of us who have been using radar detectors since the late 70s, the name Uniden may ring a bell and you may be asking yourself, “didn’t they used to make radar detectors”? But perhaps you may not be aware that Uniden has been producing capable windshield-mount models over the course of the last several years, under the proverbial radar.
